Al Arabi looked to be keeping pace with El Jaish until they were reduced to ten men; the visitors then took full advantage as they won 2-0 in their Qatar Stars League encounter today at the Grand Hamad stadium.

Al Arabi were looking to stop their slide down the table but today that would always prove to be difficult as they took on the mighty El Jaish.

Both teams had chances in the first half but lacked the cutting edge necessary to go into the lead.

In the second half Al Arabi’s game plan seemed to be working, until a second yellow card for Ahmed Fathi saw everything unravel in front of head coach Daniel Carreño’s eyes. The replay showed that Fathi was unlucky with the decision as he made contact with the ball before he tackled Methnani. However the referee disagreed and on the 66th minute the Reds were down to ten men.

The questionable decision changed the complexion of the game as El Jaish started to dominate the game.

Romarinho broke the deadlock on the 82nd minute as a misplaced clearance saw the ball fall to the Brazilian on the edge of the box. The El Jaish playmaker made no mistake as he placed it into the top left hand corner.

Then to add insult to injury the rangy forward Mohamed Muntari received a perfect cross from the left, brought it under control and from close range made it two goals on the night.

A tough loss for the home side to swallow, Al Arabi looked to be in the game until the controversial decision that saw them reduced to ten men.

El Jaish move above Qatar SC into third place with 28 points.
