QSL side El Jaish progressed to their first ever semifinal in the AFC Champions League after a 1-0 victory over UAE side Al Nasr on Wednesday evening.
A goal in the ninth minute from Brazilian striker Romarinho was enough for the solders, who had saw their first leg clash against Al Nasr forfeited 3-0 in their favor following a ruling by the AFC disciplinary committee in regards to the nationality of Nasr striker Wanderly, meaning that Sabri Lamouchi’s side progressed 4-0 on aggregate.
El Jaish will now take on UAE side Al Ain the semifinals of the competition. Jaish will also be boosted by the fact that they defeated Ain twice in the group stage of the competition earlier on in the season. The ties will take place in the UAE on the 27th of September and in Doha on the 18th of October. The winner of which will face either Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors or FC Soul who will be battling it out on the other side of the draw.
After AFC success El Jaish will now begin to focus on their opening game of the QSL season when they will face Al Wakrah on Sunday the 18th of Septemer at El Jaish stadium
