Al Gharafa travelled to the Abdulla bin Khalifa stadium to take on a stuttering El Jaish side whose form had seen them slip to fourth in the Qatar Stars League.

El Jaish had drawn against a gutsy Al Khor side and so the soldiers knew that they had to rebound quickly in round 22 if they wanted to stay in the hunt for a top four finish.

El Jaish revived some of the class and quality that struck fear into the rest of the league with classy performance as they won by three goals to zero tonight against Gharafa.

Gharafa managed to keep it tight in the first half as Jaish was clearly the dominant side with more ideas and purpose.

The first goal however came in the second half through the industrious Majid Mohammed as he received a smart ball from wingback Mosaab Mahmoud Elhasan. Majid controlled first time, the ball bounced and he volleyed home the opener from close range (47’).

The second goal came from a Gharafa mistake when youngster Huthaifa Yahya Alsalemi made a naïve pass at the back was blocked by the robust Methani. Wagner Ribeiro then pounced, controlled the ball and round the keeper for an easy goal (56’).

El Jaish were now sitting pretty with a two goal cushion and as they went into the last half hour.

Gharafa looked a shadow of their former selves and things went from bad to worse when this time Majid Mohammed turned provider with a ball over the top for Romarinho who controlled beautifully and struck the ball with his weaker foot to put a shine on the result for the Soldiers.

El Jaish remain in fourth despite the win but with a dominant performance such as that could restart their ambitions for a top 3 finish.
