Al Sailiya need to find their goal scoring touch

Two defeats in the opening two games for Al Sailiya leave Sami Trabelsi’s side just in the QSL relegation zone. Al Sailiya narrowly lost on the opening day of the season to Al Arabi 1-0, whilst it was the same scoreline in their second match out against Al Khor. This time a strike from Madson was enough of the Knights and left the side that finished in seventh place last term in trouble.

With no goals scored in the league so far Al Sailiya will be hoping that summer signing Paul Efoulou can find his feet quickly in the QSL. Efoulou has looked lively in the matches against Al Arabi and Al Khor and early indications suggest it’s just a matter of time for the former Al Taawon attacker.

Head coach Sami Trabelsi has opted for seasoned professionals in his squad this term, and none will be more important than Majdi Siddiq. The battling midfielder has been with the Peregrines for three seasons now and has previously enjoyed stints at five different QSL clubs. The experience of Siddiq will be vital for Al Sailiya if they are to push away from the drop zone.

Likewise, Al Sailiya stopper Gregory Gomis will have to be at his best if the Peregrines are to survive. Gomis has been one of Sailiya’s most consistent players over recent years, and he will be in charge of marshalling the Sailiya backline which has conceded twice this season.

Al Sailiya can consider themselves unlucky yet to have registered a point in the QSL, following two defeats by the narrowest of margins. However head coach Sami Trabelsi will now use the international break to fire up his squad, and make sure they find the back of the net in the third round of the QSL.

The Peregrines will now continue to prepare for their third round clash, when they welcome the reigning QSL champions Al Rayyan to Ahli stadium on Saturday the 15th of October.
