Qatar Sports Club faced Umm Salal at the Suhaim bin Hamad stadium tonight in the 25th round of the Qatar Stars League.

Qatar was hoping that El Jaish would slip up in the big clash with Al Sadd so that they could move up to third with a win over Salal.

However such hopes were dashed by a dominant Salal performance who quite clearly meant business right from the off. Goals from Mardanli in the first half, followed by two goals in the second half finished off a great night for the visitors - Umm Salal.

The opening exchanges showed that this was an open and fast flowing game, with both teams throwing caution to the wind and having plenty of chances early on.

The first goal was scored by Ismael Mardanli but the striker certainly had his teammates to thank, as the goal was the epitome of a team goal. Five players were involved in the goal with some slick one touch passing that ripped through the Kings defence with devastating effect (22’).

The second goal of the night was a well worked free kick that the boys in white almost pulled off, if not for a close range save. Former Turkey international, Tuncay Sanli pounced on the rebound from close range to give his side a deserved two goal cushion in the 61st minute. It was the Turks 10th goal of the season since joining Salal during the winter transfer window.

The Tuncay then assisted late on with a killer through-ball which found Tamer Jamal Othman, the midfielder just managed to stay onside, he then calmly rounded the keeper and passed the ball into the back of the net for his side’s third of the night.

The result keeps the top four as they were and Salal also stay where they are in 8th spot with 34 points.
