 Al Gharafa sports club have unveiled new coach Pedro Caixinha this morning. The former Santos Laguna coach has signed an 18 month deal with the side, who are currently 10th place in the Qatar Stars League.

Speaking to the media, the Portuguese tactician was eager to bring stability to the side that has had three head coaches in the last year.

“I have been brought to the club to bring stability to this club. Right now, they are not in the best position, I hope to improve the fortunes of the side starting straight away.” Gharafa are winless in five QSL games.  

Caixinha is no stranger to the middle east, having two separate stints in Saudi Arabia as an assistant coach, first with club side Al Hilial between 2006/2007 and then with the Saudi national team between 2009/2010.

Speaking of the squad at his disposal, Caixinha was sure that he had quality available to turn the fortunes of the side. “I am confident with what I have, that Gharafa can be stable in the league. I need to find out the best combination from the players I have in the team.”

Looking to round 15, Gharafa have the chance to pick up some points when they face  basement side Meisameer on Saturday the 2nd of January at Al Wakrah stadium KO at 18:45.
