Al Gharafa captain Bilal Mohammed says the Cheetahs are committed to turning their season around. Mohammed spoke to the QSL ahead of the Round 14 fixture against reigning champions Lekhwiya on Tuesday 22 December at Al Ahli Sports Club, kick-off 18:45.
Why has Gharafa’s form dipped recently?
We are in a transition period. There have been personnel changes which will take time to be effective. It has been difficult for some players to adapt to all the changes, but the technical staff are working with us to improve. We had a good start to the season and we need to rediscover that form. We are all in it together. Everyone is responsible for the results and we must all work together to rediscover our form and compete at the top of the QSL.
Are Gharafa capable of getting a good result against Lekhwiya?
It will be a tough game as Lekhwiya are in great form. They have improved a lot since the early part of the season and are playing like champions again. But we will work very hard to win the game. We have players who can hurt any team on their day.
What are your ambitions for the season?
We still have clear objectives from the start of the season. We have had to reassess slightly due to recent results but we are still confident of having a good campaign.

When will Gharafa find their form again?
It’s a long season and we’re not even halfway through yet. We are capable of competing for the top four places and will be doing our best to win some silverware.
