Spanish striker eyeing back to back QSL titles with Al Rayyan

Title rivals Lekhwiya and Al Rayyanface off in the round 7 QSL match of the week on Sunday evening. QSL online spoke with Al Rayyan’s Spanish striker Sergio Garcia to get his thoughts on the match up.

How do you see the match versus Lekhwiya?

It’s going to be very difficult between two big names with high quality players who have plenty of quality. Whilst both sides also have two good managers who know the league well.

Can Al Rayyan defeat Lekhwiya in this game?

Of course, we have shown last season that we can beat Lekhwiya in the league. As ever the aim of Al Rayyan is to get all three points and push up the table. We need to play in the same manner and performance as we did in the previous game versus Al Ahli, then we will win.

Are you worried about any players from Lekhwiya?

I think that Nam Tae Hee has had a great start to the season for them. He was last months best player and you can see why. We will have to make sure he is quiet if Al Rayyan are to get the win.

Al Rayyan defeated Lekhwiya twice last season, are you capable of doing the same again?

It is always possible, I think that we have shown that against the better teams in the league this year we are improving. A big win against Lekhwiya would show how serious Al Rayyan is to retain the QSL title.

Can this group retain the QSL title?

We have the ability to do so. You just have to look at the quality we have in our side, which has not changed. One obstacle is that all three teams El Jaish, Lekhiwya and Al Sadd have improved. Which means we will have to up our game to win the QSL falcon shield.

Overall are you satisfied with your performance with Al Rayyan this season?

Of course, we are in fourth place right now and we can always improve in the league, our aim in the league title and we are in a good position for this. As for me, I am always looking to improve and add more goals for the team.
