Tough season ahead according to Muaither supremo
Muaither Head of Football Mubarak Ghanem feels this season of the QSL will be hard for all teams competing, not only his own. Ghanem sat down with QSL online to give his views on the newly promoted side’s chances this term.
Opening up Mubarak said “Our club preseason well in Bosnia, and we managed to sign some experience players to boost the squad we entered the QSL in the best possible shape.”
Unfortunately for Muaither they have yet to register a point in the league following two defeats. With the result against fellow promoted side Al Shahania hard for Ghanem to take. “In our defeat to Shahania we missed many chances in the match; this effectively gave them the game. We have been addressing this over the international break.”
Talking about the squad cohesion, Ghanem believes that an overhauling of the squad in the summer needs to be looked at over the international break. “We have changed over 70% of our squad and they need to gel quickly if we are to improve in the league. I believe that this will click over the next few weeks.”
Commenting on the deadline deal to sign D.R Congo striker Alain Dioko from Al Gharafa “Dioko is a very well-known player in the QSL and was the top goal scorer in two consecutive seasons. We wish him all the best with Muaither. We would also like to thank Al Gharafa Club for helping us to secure the deal.”
Mubarak also had some kind words for the management team. ”Phillipe Birol and his worked hard to secure the Qatar Gas League for Muaither . Now in the QSL he is working very hard with the team to improve our position. I have faith that he will get the victories that he deserves in the QSL.”
Concluding the interview, Ghanem focused on the next game versus Al Gharafa in Round 3 “next match against Al Gharafa will be against a team who has yet to secure a point, just like us. They played well against Lekhwiya in Round 2. It is going to be a very tough test for Muaither as Gharafa are looking to win.”
