Fans central to Al Arabi trophy push- according to Senegalese defender

Al Arabi’s summer signing Moustapha Sall is aiming to lift silverware with The Dream Team. The central defender gave an exclusive interview to get his thoughts on the match of the week between Lekhwiya and Al Arabi.

Opening up the conversation Sall admitted that his side are hungry to get back to winning ways. “It’s going to be a tough game against Lekhwiya who are aiming for the top of the table. We lost in the derby (against Al Ahli) and will be looking to compensate.”

The 2-0 defeat to Al Ahli was hard to take for Al Arabi, who have invested heavily in the side. Despite the defeat, Sall insists that the side has no time to dwell on previous results. “It was a shock to loose to Ahli, despite playing well. Now the focus is the next game, and the coach is doing all he can to prepare the group for Lekhwiya.”

Looking forward to the match, Sall feels that his side can only improve. “We are aiming for the win and an impressive performance from the side. We need a big result against a top team in the league and we need to show our intentions. It will be a big ask to defeat Lekhwiya, but I feel we have a good team spirit which will aid us in the game.”



“Each side has good players, and the game will be won on the pitch. We are ready to fight and prove to the fans that we can achieve something this season” claimed Sall when asked about his sides chances in the Friday evening match up.

Sall was also eager to praise Al Arabi’s fan base and stress the importance of the supporters going into the big game. “Al Arabi has many fans, which can help the side on. We will need them to join us in the stadium if we are going to defeat Lekhwiya.”

The Senegalese defender ended the interview outlining his aims with the Dream Team; “Al Arabi is certainly capable of the top four places and winning a trophy. The season has just started and we have a long way to go. We are working hard as a team to improve every day and satisfy the fans and management to get back where this great club belongs, which is at the top of the QSL table.”
