Opening up the conversation, the sports director was sure that Al Sadd deserved to be in the title picture; “Whatever team lifts the QSL shield will be worthy of it. Al Sadd has fought well this season, and our performances have shown why we should be fighting for the title, despite now being in second place we still has a chance.”
“Not playing in the Champions League will not benefit Al Sadd for the title, we would prefer to play the games and get experience. Whilst for Lekhwiya they have a big squad and will be more than able to make up for this in their side” noted Gholam when asked if the AFC Champions League will be a deciding factor in the title race.
Reflecting on the performance of the side, Ghloam expressed that he was proud of the team. “The side has done well this season to date, but I do not want to be drawn on the fate of individual players as we still have the remainder of the season to play. We will make the necessary decisions on playing staff come the end of the season.
Ending the interview and the Al Sadd supremo made very clear of his sides aims this season. “Right now are only focus is on overtaking Lekhwiya and going onto claiming the QSL title. We will take this step by step knowing that three wins from the final games is all we can do.”
