Sadd defender relishing derby clash with Al Arabi

Al Sadd defender Ibrahim Majid has revealed his excitement ahead of Al Sadd’s derby match up against Al Arabi. The Qatar interntional shared his thoughts on the game in an exclusive interview with QSL online.

Majid opened up the interview suggesting that his side will be making up for lost points against Al Wakrah last time out. “It’s going to be a tough game ahead of us against Al Arabi in the derby especially after the disappointing result against Al Wakrah. We all now have a responsibility at Al Sadd to get a big result against Al Arabi.”

Touching on the 1-1 draw, Majid is expecting an immediate response from The Wolves. “It was a disappointing draw, especially since we are striving hard to compete for the QSL title and reduce the point’s difference with El Jaish. Al Sadd fans have all the right to be upset, but we promise them to improve our work, performance and results moving forward.”

“I don’t believe so. We are old rivals and even if Al Arabi have started the season badly they are looking to get three points for survival. Whilst for Al Sadd we are looking to maintain our place in the standings, and will be giving our all to win” explained Majid when asked if the derby match will be lacking in spice as Al Arabi are so low in the QSL standings.

The tie will also see Majid face former team-mate and Al Sadd captain Talal Al-Bloushi, something that the defender is certainly relishing. “I am looking forward to playing against Talal, he is a huge name in Qatar football and could be a key player in this game, we played together for many years it will be a special moment for me.”

Looking forward to the game, Madjid suggested that his side can edge proceedings. “Looking at both teams, it’s clear that they have quality players. Al Sadd can play well as a team, whilst Al Arabi has standout individual players. I feel that our team work can help us get the win.”

Ending the conversation the young defender made clear of his ambitions with this Al Sadd side. “ I think it’s clear that we will be fighting for the QSL title this season, that is always the aim. God willing we will lift a trophy this season.”
