Returning Al Sadd striker Hamza Sanhaji is relishing the chance to take on Al Gharafa in the QSL match of the week for round 18. The Qatar U23 star spoke to QSL online ahead of the game, also revealing his joy at returning home to Al Sadd following a half season loan spell with El Jiash.
Opening up the conversation, Hamza noted that Al Sadd is expecting a challenge against Al Gharafa. “It’s going to be a tough game, Al Gharafa is a good team and they have plenty of dangerous players. I also like their coach, Pedro Caixina who seems to have motivated the side well this season.”
Al Sadd are now just three points behind league leaders Lekhwiya, and could temporarily go to the top of the QSL standings with a win. “We drew with Al Gharafa at the start of the season 3-3, so that highlights how good they are. This game will be at home, and we know that if we win we can go top of the table, that’s a big motivation for the side.”

Whilst Hamza also believes that his Al Sadd side can lift the QSL title at the end of the domestic season. “We now have nine games in the league; there are plenty of points to fight for. I personally think that we can overhaul Lekhwiya and win the title this season, this is our year.”
“It’s good to be home with Al Sadd and I was really glad to help the side with my goals against Muaither. Now we have to focus on the next game, and I hope that I can do well again for the good of Al Sadd” added the twenty-two year old striker when asked about his two goals in the 6-1 win over bottom side Muaither last time out.
Hamza ended the interview with a word on returning striker Bagdad Bounjah who could be in contention for a start against Al Gharafa after returning from the AFCON. “It’s a big boost that we have Bagdad back for this game. He has been a big player for us this season and scored plenty of goals. I hope he can start scoring quickly and help Al Sadd win the QSL title.”
