D.R Congo man targeting Derby victory for Al Ahli
Al Ahli striker Firming Mubele expects a tough clash against local rivals Al Arabi in the fourth round of QSL action on Friday evening at Al Arabi stadium. QSL online caught up with the D.R Congo international to get his thoughts on the big derby.
Mubele opened up the conversation admitting that the upcoming match will be a tough test for Al Ahli. “The match against Al Arabi will be difficult. However we are aiming to win after dropping points against Al Sadd and Al Wakrah.”
“It’s a special game for the club, games against Al Arabi are always special and last season we played well against them. I hope that we get the victory, it’s always good to get a win over local rivals” noted Mubele when asked about the importance of the Friday evening clash.
The D.R Congo international also believes his side has the quality to just edge out Al Arabi in the match. “Both teams have strong players and are managed by two distinguished coaches, so on paper it looks like an even game. However we have a strong team ethic here at Ahli and this will push the tie in our favor.”
Mubele also reflected on the last match against Al Wakrah in which his side came back from behind to draw as a wasted opportunity. “After dropping points to Wakrah we are disappointed with ourselves as we targeted the win. However we must now focus on the game against Arabi and make up those lost points.”
“I have been trying to score a goal like that for the last few weeks now, I am just glad it came off and that I can help Al Ahli achieve their goals this season” explained Mubele on his outrageous overhead kick equalizer against Al Wakrah.
Ending up the interview, Mubele stressed that the Al Ahli squad is progressing well and focused on their end of season targets. “We have started positively this season; the atmosphere under the new coach is good. Our target is a top four finish, and I believe that it is realistic for this group. Now the hard work begins and hopefully we can show this with a big win against Al Arabi.”
