QSL side Al Sailiya has yet to register a single point in the QSL season so far, which will be a cause for concern for fans and officials. QSL online sat down with Al Sailiya head of football Abdulla Al Hanzab to get his thoughts on the opening games of the campaign and aims for the season ahead.
How has the team played so far?
Al Sailiya has not played well in the opening two games of the league, which is a huge disappointment. Especially in the light of the plans made by management for preseason preparations to aid the team this season, there is no justification for such performances.
Will the defeats affect your side?
There is no doubt that a good start would have given any team a boost going into the international break. Nevertheless, the season is only two weeks old; we will battle to restore Al Sailiya as a difficult team in the QSL.
What do you think of the coming fixtures?
We have some tough tests in title challengers in Al Rayyan and Umm Salal along with teams fighting for survival in Al Shahania. These will be big games for the side, but we have faith in our players to deliver. We definitely won’t be looking for a repeat for the opening two games of the season.
Do you have confidence that the players will regain form?
Yes we do. The good thing is the fact we are still at the very beginning of the league, there is still a chance to correct the mistakes in previous games, especially during the international break.
What are your thoughts on the QSL this season?
The QSL season will be tough at both ends of the table. You have four or five sides capable of fighting for the title, whilst the battle for relegation will be tough with four sides going down. I believe Al Sailiya can compete, despite our slow start to the campaign.
