After the success of the first edition of Banalty Challenge in 2014, that exceeded the expectations of the organizing committee and the sponsors, the event is now in its second edition.

The second edition of the Banalty Challenge competition 2015 is to start next month from 4th until the 11th of March on the outdoor fields of Aspire Zone.

The organizing committee worked hard with its partners in order to put in place the essential organizational and technical framework.

The term “Banalty” is the colloquial Arabic way to say the English word, penalty. The objective of this competition is to spread the sport of football within Qatar as well as and encouraging the public to practice sports, in particular football.

The competition’s concept is based on the idea of giving the fans the opportunity to take a penalty kick against a professional goal keeper, whoever scores qualifies for the next round.

The winner is awarded 30,000 QR while the best goalkeeper receives 10,000 QR.

The organizing committee aims to reach 4000 participants this year in the 8 day event.

This year the organizers are aiming to reduce waiting times and long queues.  This will be done by assigning the participants different days in which to take part. This will be displayed on the tickets.

Tickets are available from Virgin Mega Stores and the revenue will be donated to various causes through Qatar Charity.

The participants are not required to have previous experience as all abilities are welcome. Everyone can participate whether male or female (above the age of 12). In addition, participants are allowed to wear whatever outfit or shoes they desire.

A member of the organizing committee said, “I am thankful to them for their efforts to build bridges with the community and various groups to spread football and we hope that through continued support for such footballing events we have a lasting football legacy.”

He added, “I would like also to thank the Qatar Football Association and the Qatar Stars League management for support for football in general and for the Banalty  Challenge competition in particular. Also I would like to thank Aspire Zone, this huge foundation is the pride of the State of Qatar, they have great experience hosting and creating events using their state-of-the-art facilities.”
