Al Gharafa’s Brazilian defender Anderson told QSL Online that his team has started this season well as they managed to gain three early victories before results went off the boil.

“We had a good start and achieved three wins then we had a decline in results for several reasons such as the injuries and also missing players who were busy with their national sides. We are working on getting the team back on track and winning again.”

Anderson pointed out that Al Gharafa wasn’t lucky in recent games because the team came up against strong opposition, “We hoped to win all our matches but our opponents were also very tough and had luck on their side.”

Asked about his performances this season since joining Al Gharafa, he said, “At the beginning, I lacked harmony with my teammates but now I am satisfied with my performances. I hope to serve my team well.”

Anderson added that when he was playing for El Jaish, he felt like he was at home and that finally he is feeling the same at Al Gharafa. He said, “Things are not different or difficult for me as I was welcomed warmly with great hospitality by Al Gharafa’s management. I would like to thank them for such hospitality. I would like to assure everyone that I am a professional player and despite the fact that my contract with Al Gharafa is only for one season, I still don’t know what will happen next. All I think about now is focusing on the team and helping my teammates.”

Commenting on his ambitions with Al Gharafa
“My ambition is to win one title with Al Gharafa at least. We are still at the beginning of the season & we could reach the top four teams and compete for other competitions.”

Answering a question about whether Al Gharafa is capable of winning the Qatar Stars League
“It is hard to decide now which team will win the league title. We still have 18 rounds to play in the league. I am aware that Al Rayyan is at the top but we have a saying in Brazil “football is a box full of surprises”.
