Al Sadd travelled north tonight to face bottom of the league Al Shamal. With the team from the north yet to register a win in the Qatar Stars League, they could not have had a harder game in which to break their duck. Al Sadd are as yet unbeaten and with players coming back from injury the Wolves were a tough task for the home side.

According to form Sadd scored first through Karim Hassan Abdel in the 12th minute of the match.

However Al Shamal responded valiantly as they scored just six minutes later to level things at one apiece. The goal came through their Korean defender Cho Yong-Hyung.

Dutchman Saïd Boutahar then added a second on 32 minutes as the current league leaders stood shocked at the score line.

Al Shamal held out until the half time break and were now only 45 minutes away from their first ever QSL win.

After the break, Shamal held on for a while but Al Sadd’s pressure was beginning to tell. Hasan Al Haydos who has been scoring goals for fun this season saved Al Sadd from their first loss of the campaign when he leveled the match at two apiece (62’).

The result means that Shamal are still rooted to the bottom of the table on 5 points whilst Al Sadd missed an opportunity to go five points clear of Lekhwiya.
