Al Sailiya welcomed the visitors Al Shahania to the Soud bin Abdelrahman stadium in Al Wakrah for the rescheduled round 2 QSL match.

With Peregrines manager Sami Trabelsi under fire for his team’s poor start to the season, it was imperative that his side didn’t slip up against the newly promoted Al Shahania.

The game itself saw two goals in the first half from new summer signing Issam Jemaa, the first was on the 34th minute and the second came on the stroke of half time.

After the restart, things went from bad to worse for the Oryxes when Masoud Mohammad Reza was initially yellow carded for foaling Fawzi Ayish in the middle of the park. Then petulantly the midfielder kicked the ball away in anger and the referee didn’t hesitate to card the player once more, thereby giving the player his marching orders.

Head coach Jose Fernando looked visibly frustrated with his player’s naivety and consequently had to make a number of substitutions so as to set up his team defensively for the reminder of the game.

With just ten men, chances were few and far between for the Oryxes as the Peregrines continued to dominate the second half and secure their third win of the season.

The result moves Al Sailiya up into the 9th and consigns Shahania to 13th place with just 5 points in the Qatar Stars League.
