Al Sadd Football club qualified for the 2015 AFC Champions League group stage after defeating Al Wehda (UAE) 5-4 in penalties.<br />

The match which was played on Tuesday evening in Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi. With this win Al Sadd joined Group C along with Al-Hilal (KSA), Foolad (Iran) and Lokomotiv (Uzbekistan). It was a very exciting match which in the end could only be decided by a penalty shoot-out. Both the 90 minutes and the extra time ended in a draw 4-4.<br />

Al Wehda was in lead by a goal on the 8<sup>th</sup> minute courtesy of Diaz. Al Sadd waited till the 55<sup>th</sup> minute to score their first goal when Youssef Ahmed hit the back of the net. Then Al-Sadd took the lead courtesy play maker Khalfan Ibrahim but Al-Wehda equalized in the 72<sup>nd</sup> minute through Amer Omar followed by the third goal from Mohamed Al-Shehy. Khalfan Ibrahim succeeded in scoring Al Sadd's third to make it 3-3 after 90 minutes.<br />

Both teams played extra time and the referee sent-off two players from Al Wehda as well as Al Sadd's defender Mohamed Kasola.<br />

Khalfan continued to shine by scoring the fourth goal on the 8<sup>th</sup> minute of the first half of extra time, but Ismail Mutar kept the hopes of his team alive by scoring the equalizing goal on the 2<sup>nd</sup> minute of the second half of extra time.<br />

Al Sadd goalkeeper Saad Al-Sheib excelled during the penalty shoot-out with two saves and eventually led his team to the group stage.
