Former Qatar Stars League (QSL) champions Al Sadd hit the training pitch on Saturday following a five-day rest after their round
14 win over Mesaimeer.
 
Club officials said Al Sadd are preparing for their round 15 clash against Umm Salal on January 3, 2016.
 
Al Sadd squad was allowed a five-day rest by coach Jesualdo Ferreira after the side hammered bottom-placed Mesaimeer 5-1 in round 14.
 
The January 3 game will be played at the Hamad bin Khalifa Stadium (Al Ahli Stadium).
 
Training under the watchful eyes of coach Ferreira, the Al Sadd players underwent physical fitness drills, club officials said on Sunday.
 
Training on the pitch lasted about 20 minutes on Saturday and players are expected to intensify the drills in the coming days, a member of the team said on Sunday.
 
The session on Saturday also saw the return of the forward Saleh Bader who was with the Qatar national Olympic team camp.
 
The next few days will see forward Hassan Al-Haydos join the team for training after his complete recovery from an ankle injury he sustained in the match against El Jaish.
 
Captain Xavi Hernandez is currently undergoing recuperation under the supervision of the medical staff in order to return to training.
