Rayyan meant business in the late kick off as they started fast with Tabata breaking the deadlock after only 11 minutes.  A terrific Sagbo freekick in the second half made things tense but two goals from Soria wrapped things up for the Lions at the Jassim Bin Hamad stadium.

The first goal of the night was beautiful to watch as some quick one twos saw Tabata strike a shot with his weaker left foot to put his side in the lead after just ten minutes of play.

Umm Salal who are renowned for starting slow, failed to head the warning as just after the half hour mark, new signing Sebastian Soria made it two. Tabata again was involved with the all-important lay-off for the Qatari forward. However the replay showed that he was clearly in an off-side position when he scored.

Regardless, the goal was awarded to Rayyan and the first half finished with the Lions on the front foot.

In the second half Salal got a hold of the game and came close with a number of chances, the pressure was beginning to tell.

Umm Salal was awarded a freekick in a dangerous position on the edge of the box on the left side. New signing Sagbo stepped up and struck the sweetest of freekicks, leaving the keeper stranded (61’).

But any sign of a comeback was short lived as just nine minutes later Sebastian Soria was at it again, this time the forward was on-side and as he struck a typical poacher’s goal.

Rayyan look back to their best and if they carry on like this then they could certainly finish in the top 3. The Lions are now at the top of the table after three Rounds and will play Mesaimeer next.
