QSL side Al Rayyan came away with a creditable 0-0 away draw with Persapolis to keep their chances of qualification to the knockout stages of the AFC Champions League alive.
Last season QSL champions had to weather plenty of Persapolis pressure during the game. Persapolis were awarded a penalty in the first half, however Mehdi Taremi chipped his effort over the bar on the stroke of half time.

In the second half Persapolis pushed for an opener but were denied by a resolute Al Rayyan backline. Michael Laudrup’s side relied on the counter attack for the majority of the second half and could have taken a lead against the run of play in stoppage time had Sebastian Soria’s shot not rattled the post.

The result means that Al Rayyan are currently in second place in group D with a tally of seven points from their four games.
