Al Rayyan have suffered their first loss of the season when they lost their Round 12 match against Al Sadd but they will go into next match knowing that history is on their side.
Rayyan have a superior head to head record against Ahli. There have been no stalemates between these two teams with Rayyan having won six out of their seven matches.
Ahli has won only once, in the first leg of the 2013/14 season when they thumped Rayyan 4-1. Goals from Meshal Abdulla, Alain Dioko (brace) and Santos helped Ahli defeat Rayyan who got a consolation strike through Fahad Khalfan.

However Rayyan have emerged victorious in all the other encounters. The Lions won the two legs of the 2009/10 season 2-1 and 1-0 respectively. In the next season, the two matches had a scoreline of 2-1 and 1-0 in favour of Rayyan.

The 2011/12 season saw more goals being scored but the end result was the same with Rayyan winning 3-2 and 3-0 respectively.  The next year, didn't see a clash between these two sides because Ahli were relegated to the second division.
When Ahli returned to the QSL in the 2013/14 season they managed their only victory over Rayyan in the second leg. The next season the two teams didn't play each other, this time because of Rayyan being relegated.

This Round 13 fixture will be the first time that these two teams will face each other this season. History definitely seems to be on Rayyan's side and so also is their stellar form this season but Ahli have it in them to pull off an upset.

This Monday, when these two teams face off at the Thani bin Jassem Stadium, we will know whether history repeats itself or a new chapter will be written.
