Al Kharaitiyat gained their first three points in the Qatar Stars League after defeating Qatar Sports Club 2-1 in the Round 1 fixture, played at the Al Khor Stadium on Saturday evening.

Al Kharaitiyat scored both goals within a five minute spell, the first of which was scored by striker Yahia Kebe on the 52nd minute, while the second was courtesy of Mohamed Yasser with a sweet volleyed effort (57’).  Qatar Sports Club replied just minutes later through Ali Awad (59’).

Despite the fact that expectations were high for the Kings, Kharaitiyat showed the greater will to win and under new Head Coach Amar Osim, they looked a completely different outfit.

The game was very even with both sides finding it hard to settle.  The defence of both teams were tested and remained alert to any attempts with both goalkeepers putting in a hard shift. The first half however, ended goalless.

Qatar Sports Club’s Head Coach Radhi Shenaishil made a substitution at the beginning of the second half with Hamdi Harboui replacing Abdulla Ali Deyani in an attempt to boost the Kings attack.

Qatar Sports Club put pressure on Al Kharaitiyat as they slowly started to gain the lion’s share of the possession.  But despite a number of good freekicks from Mouhcine Iajour and a few one on ones, QSC couldn’t find the equaliser.

Kharaitiyat may surprise a few people this season and with Anwar Diba slowly coming back from injury, the Thunders will be even stronger.

Qatar Sports Club looked decidedly average and lacking creativity in the middle of the park, Shenaishil will also have to find a way to ensure that when both Harboui and Iajour are on the pitch together, they find a way to complement each other.
