The Al Duhail vs Al Sadd thriller was the high point of 2019-20 QNB Stars League Week 9 action, which witnessed exciting games and a total of 17 goals in six fixtures held on 31st October, 1st November and 2nd November.

Al Duhail came from behind and got the better of Al Sadd 4-1, with goals coming from Mohammed Muntari (penalty), Karim Boudiaf, Paulo Edmilson and Almoez Ali. Hassan Al Haydous was Al Sadd’s scorer.

It was Al Duhail’s seventh victory and they took their points tally to 23 to stay on top. Al Sadd stayed on 15 points, but slipped from third to fourth position. However, they have two matches in hand, against Al Arabi (Week 5) and Al Khor (Week 7).

Al Rayyan stood second in the table with 21 points following their 2-0 win over Al Sailiya, with Yacine Brahimi coming up with a double. It was yet another brilliant display by the Algerian attacking midfielder as The Lions notched up their sixth victory.

Al Sailiya moved down from sixth to seventh place with 11 points.

Al Duhail and Al Rayyan are so far the only unbeaten sides in the tournament.

Al Gharafa climbed from fourth to third spot with a 3-1 victory over Al Khor.

Ahmed Alaaeldin and Sofiane Hanni (double) were the scorers as The Cheetahs moved on to 17 points. Tiago Bezerra scored for Al Khor, who remained in 10th position with five points.

Al Arabi stayed in the fifth spot with 14 points despite being held 2-2 by Al Wakrah, who also stayed eighth with nine points.

Mohammed Salah El Neel and Birkir Bjarnason were Al Arabi’s scorers, while Al Wakrah’s goals were scored by Mohammed Waad Al Bayati and Mohamed Benyettou (penalty).

Qatar SC made a big leap for the second week running as they beat Al Shahania 1-0, Uzbek striker Sardor Rashidov netting the winner. Nevertheless, Qatar SC remained in ninth position with nine points, whereas Al Shahania stood as the rock-bottom side with three points.

Uruguayan striker Abel Mathias scored the all-important goal as Al Ahli piled more misery on Umm Salal with a 1-0 victory.

Al Ahli climbed from seventh to sixth spot with 13 points and Umm Salal remained 11th with five points. Even a change at the helm of technical staff, Tunisian Ahmed Labiath replacing Spaniard Raul Caneda, did not bring the desired result for The Orange Fortress.
