Al Arabi took on Al Shahania at home in the other early kick-off in their round 22 fixture.

This was a scrappy and game of few real chances as a single goal separated two sides who played below their usual standards.

The goal itself was a cleverly worked free kick from 35 yards out, Ahmed Fathi quickly tapped the ball as there was no wall and Ashkan Dejagah moved it onto his right foot before dispatching a powerful shot into the bottom left corner.

Shahania were not blameless as they failed to spot the danger in time, their naivety once again costing them dear.

After that Shahania managed to have some spells of possession but seemed utterly unable to find that quality pass needed to unlock the Dream Team’s defence.

Then in the 69th minute Arabi hit the woodwork twice as  this time Dejagah ran down the left, cut back a perfectly waited ball that new signing Junior Dutra head straight onto the cross bar. The ball then rebounded to Ahmed Fathi Abdulla who then smashed it first time against the post as the second goal continued to elude them.

The result sees Arabi stay in 8th place and just 1 point behind Umm Salal who have 30 points in the Qatar Stars League.
