Round 9 got underway yesterday as mid table Al Arabi travelled to the Thani bin Jassim stadium to take on Al Shahania at 17:30 in the evening.

Al Shahania who was promoted this season to the Qatar Stars League for the very first time in their history, have surprised a few people as so far as they have been the better of the two newly promoted sides. The other promoted club is Al Shamal.

Very few would have predicted this result especially considering the firepower at Dan Petrescu’s disposal.

However, Al Shahania held on and although they didn’t have as many chances as their opponents, in the end they earned a well-deserved draw.

For the visitors - Al Arabi the night was one of frustration and disappointment as everything they tried failed.

Petrescu may just have to chalk this one up as a bit of freak result and get his boys focused as quickly as possible on their next game. The Dream Team now remains in 7th place in the QSL standings whilst Al Shahania continues to outshine Al Shamal with 5 points.

Al Shahania will have to have the same level of concentration and determination if they want to gain anything from their next match, which will see them take on the formidable El Jaish in round 10.

Al Arabi too must “up their game” because in round 10 they will face last season’s champions Lekhwiya who are currently leading the standings with 21 points.
