El Jaish and Al Ahli went face to face on Sunday night in the Abdulla bin Khalifa stadium for their first match of the season. Both teams were focused on taking 3 points for the win, but unfortunately they had to settle for a draw. The match ended 1-1.<br />
<br />
Under new Head Coach Zlatko Kranjčar the Brigadiers not only went toe to toe with El Jaish but outplayed them for large parts of the game.<br />
<br />
However it was El Jaish who broke the deadlock when new Moroccan striker Hamed-allah scored a fantastic goal in the 39th minute, which put them in the lead before half-time. The goal was completely against the run of play but Jaish took their chance when it came.<br />
<br />
After the break Al Ahli came back hungry to recitfy the score after such a good performance in the first half.<br />
<br />
But it took until the 66th minute for the Brigadiers to reply, Iranian midfielder Jabbari headed the ball and found a lucky deflection off the head of El Jaish defender Lucas Mendes for the equaliser. <br />
<br />
In both the 3rd and 20th minute of the match, Mobili created 2 great opportunities to score a goal, but both were saved. The new signing showing some of his potential with a fantastic overhead kick which required just as good a save from the rangey Jaish keeper.<br />
<br />
El Jaish’s coach made several changes in defense and attack during the second half to try and balance the team who looked slightly disjointed and lacking creativity. <br />
<br />
The final minutes saw a struggle between both teams. Although Al Ahli was the most powerful and threatening, they were unsuccessful in their quest for a second goal, which, if they had found would have been more just as they were the more superior of the two teams on the night.<br />

In the second round of the QSL, El Jaish will take on Al Sailiya as Al Ahli will face a tough Al Wakrah side.
