Al Kharaitiyat travelled to the Grand Hamad yesterday evening to take on Al Ahli in a match they could ill afford to lose. The Thunders were in 10th place and dangling precariously over the drop zone.
But Kharaitiyat never really showed up for this fixture and right from the off the boys in Blue and White witnessed an onslaught that they could not recover from.
Dioko opened the Brigadier’s account with a goal on 15 minutes and contined to demonstrate why he is so widely feared in the league.
The first half ended with Macala’s men in the lead but the Brigadiers knew that more goals would be necessary to secure the win.
After the restart whatever advice Marchand passed onto his players was completely ignored and subsequently they paid dearly.
Dioko’s partner in crime Meshal Abdullah got his goal in the 55th minute and opened the floodgates as Al Ahli went on to score two more!
Dioko, who last season was the league’s top scorer then added a second (76’) and then in extra time got his hat-trick to cap off a fine night for Al Ahli.
The result sees Ahli move up from 8th to 6th and they now have 13 points from 8 matches.
Al Kharaitiyat continue with their poor start and have slid down to 11th spot in the Qatar Stars League.
