The Qatari international had spent all of last season with Umm Salal but since the end of the season he has returned to his parent club Lekhwiya.

Commenting on his experience with Umm Salal during last season, he said, "I would like thank Umm Salal Sports Club for the time I spent with them, most of my experience was successful and I am satisfied with it. I played many games and enjoyed my football."

He added, “When I joined Umm Salal, I had the chance to play regularly, which helped me to demonstrate my abilities more and become a better player.”

Commenting on whether he received other offers before returning to Lekhwiya, Maqsoud said, "After the successful experience with Umm Salal and joining up with the Qatar National Team, it was natural that I received other offers, but it was also natural to return to Lekhwiya because I have a valid contract with them and they are the champions."

Maqsoud went on to say that he knows everyone at the club well. "I know everyone within the team as we played together in the Qatari National Team during the previous two seasons."

Commenting on the new season the midfielder said, “the return of Al Rayyan to the Qatar Stars League will definitely increase the excitement and competition level in the league, but with all due respect to all the other clubs, I still believe that the competition for the title remains between both Lekhwiya and Al Sadd."

The player also spoke about whether Lekhwiya is capable of overcoming Saudi Club Al Hilal in AFC Champions League quarterfinals, "Yes, Lekhwiya is able to defeat Al Hilal and qualify to the semi-final as this match is considered the most important game of their campaign so far, so I believe that if they play to their potential then of course they can achieve a win.”
