Jordan outplay Vietnam

Jordan eased to a 3-1 victory against Vietnam on Thursday evening thanks to a brace from striker Baha Faisal.

The first half was one of few chances however Faisal opened the scoring for the Jordanians minutes before the first half, calmly rounding the keeper to slot into an open net. Vietnam could of found a quick-fire qualizer, however Nguyen Cong Phuong’s golden chance was just headed over the bar, the first half ended 1-0 to Jordan.

In the second half Jordan came out with renewed vigor, and rightly doubled their lead from a spectacular effort from Maanasrah, who had plenty of time to stroke a long distance effort past Vietnamese keeper Phi Minh Long.

Jordan all but guaranteed their points when Baha Faisal was on hand to tuck in the rebound from a long-distance strike from Ahmad Hisam. Vietnam did grab a consolation from Duy Manh but Jordan held out for the deserved 3-1 win.

UAE Sink Australia.

UAE pulled off a shock 1-0 defeat at Al Arabi stadium on Thursday evening. Australian defender Giancarlo Gallifuoco scored an own goal from a corner on the 85th minutes to give the UAE all three points.

In truth the first half was a tame match, with very few chances. However the Olyroo’s did edge the tie in terms of possession. The second half was a more open match, with the UAE finally breaking the dead-lock five minutes from time via the deflected effort of the Melbourne Victory defender.

Australia will be looking to return to winning ways when they face Vietnam. UAE will face Jordan, with both teams playing on January the 17th
