Al Wakrah Sports Club General Secretary Abdel Aziz Al-Obaidly revealed that Lekhwiya S.C has officially requested the loan extension of left back Khalid Muftah.  The matter will soon be decided by the club’s Board in their upcoming meeting. Al-Obaidly went on to speak about the strong ties and good relationship between both clubs.

Al-Obaidly added, “So far, we haven’t settled the matter of Khalid Muftah’s loan extension but we have strong ties with Lekhwiya and so we will reach an agreement soon.”

Al-Obaidly then spoke about the new Al Wakrah head coach - Mauricio, saying, “Looking at his track record, he is a good coach and he is considered the most appropriate choice for the team. However we can’t judge his work now, we have to wait and see how he manages this season. I wish him all the best going forward.”

Al-Obaidly pointed out that Mauricio will also be joined by his technical staff that will arrive in Doha before the first team gathers again in Doha on the 5th of July. 

Commenting on the signing of their last foreign player and the efforts made by the club’s management to settle this matter, he said, “So far we haven’t finalized everything with regards to Mouhcine Moutouali, Sasha and Ali Hussein, we still have a lot of choices to make.”

Commenting of the whether there is a desire to transfer one of their goalkeepers, he said: “We have faith in our goalkeepers currently. However, this does not prevent us from bringing in another keeper to join the team in the new season.”
