Lekhwiya Football Club succeeded in winning the Qatar Stars League title for the 2014/2015 season to maintain their title from the previous season 2013/2014. The have won it three times before. This is their fourth league title for Lekhwiya since the team was promoted to the top division five years ago, a huge accomplishment by any measure.
 
This title was achieved after defeating Al Ahli by three goals to one in Round 25 of Qatar Stars League.
 
This season the coronation occurred after Round 25, last season they won it one round earlier.
 
59 points out of 75 were enough to be crowned with the league title for this season. Lekhwiya gained 59 points from 25 matches with 18 wins, 5 draws and two defeats.
 
Ever since the team reached the Qatar Stars League, they have been winning the league title with the exception of only title during the 2012/2013 season (Al Sadd). Also Lekhwiya is the first team to win the league title twice consecutively after the expansion of the league from 12 to 14 clubs.
 
There is no doubt that Lekhwiya faced many difficulties, nevertheless these didn’t affect the champions who imposed themselves to gain the league title one round before the season finished.
 
18 Victories So Far
Lekhwiya achieved 18 victories so far. Their path started with defeating Qatar  SC in Round 1 by five goals to nil, Al-Khor in Round 2 by three goals to nil, Al-Gharafa in Round 3 by one goal to nil, El Jaish in Round 4 by one goal to nil, Al-Shamal in round 5 by two goals to nil, Al-Kharaitiyat in Round 7 by one goal to nil, Al-Wakrah in Round 8 by two goals to nil, Al-Shahania in Round 11 by five goals to nil, Al-Sailiya in Round 13 by two goals to one, Qatar in Round 14 by three goals to one, Al-Khor in Round 15 by four goals to two, Al-Gharafa in Round 16 by three goals to two, Al-Shamal in Round 18 by one goal to nil, Al-Sadd in Round 19 by one goal to nil, Al-Kharaitiyat in Round 20 by one goal to nil, Umm Salal in Round 22 by two goals to one, Al-Arabi in Round 23 by three goals to one and the recent win over Al Ahli in Round 25 by three goals to one to settle the title.
 
5 Draws
During the 25 weeks of the Qatar Stars League, Lekhwiya have had five draws, first of which against Umm Salal in Round 9 (1-1), Al-Arabi in Round 10 (3-3), Al Ahli in Round 12 (2-2), Al-Wakrah in Round 21 (2-2) and against Al-Shahania in Round 24 (3-3).
 
Two Defeats in 25 Matches
Lekhwiya suffered only a few defeats so far, the team lost only two matches. The first defeat against Al-Sadd in Round 6 which Al-Sadd won 3-0, while the second loss was at the hands of El Jaish in Round 17 by two goals to nil.
 
One Match to Go
Despite the fact that Lekhwiya has already settled the QSL title for the current season, the team has one final match this season against Al-Sailiya in the Round 26.
 
First & biggest wins this season
Lekhwiya started this season big as the team defeated Qatar SC in Round 1 by five goals to nil, which is a huge victory that gave the team a boost for the rest of the campaign. Also this is considered Lekhwiya’s biggest win so far as well as the victory over Al-Shahania 5-0. Lekhwiya scored 10 goals in only two matches in Rounds 1 and 11.
 
First defeat
The first defeat that Lekhwiya suffered, was during Round 6 against Al-Sadd by three goals to nil and this is one out of only two defeats.
 
First Draw
The first draw for Lekhwiya in the league was against Umm Salal in Round 9 by one goal each.
 
First Title for Laudrup
The league title is considered the first for the Danish Head Coach Michael Laudrup, who took over the team last summer.
 
4 foreign players
Huge efforts were exerted by the local and the foreign players to accomplish the title this season. Lekhwiya’s four foreign players proved their worth and led the team with their local teammates to achieve the second consecutive title. The professional players are the Korean Nam Tae Hee, the Tunisian Youssef Msakni, the Spaniard Chico Flores and the Slovakian winger Vladimir Weiss.
 
Scored 54 goals, received 25 goals, goal difference 29
Excellence is the team’s motto. This title was achieved not only because it is the best team according to results, but through the stats too. Lekhwiya scored 54 goals and conceded just 25 goals in 25 matches with goal difference of 29 goals. Lekhwiya also has the best defense with only one goal conceded per match.
 
 
Three Coaches Achieved Four Titles
Since Lekhwiya got promoted to the Qatar Stars League for the first time in 2010, the team accomplished four titles under the technical leadership of three coaches; Jamal Belmady who won the league title twice, Eric Gerets who last season won the league title and now Michael Laudrup.
 
Six points difference between this season and last
Lekhwiya won the last league title when they reached 53 points in Round 24 last season, this term  the red knights won the title when the amassed 59 points. Hence there is six point difference.
 
Five Lekhwiya players missed the title winning match
Lekhwiya missed 5 important players in their match against Al Ahli.  Goalkeeper Claude Amine was not available due to injury, striker Sebastian Soria due to suspension, both foreign players Nam Tae Hee and Vladimir Weiss due to their automatic suspensions and Luis Martin Junior for the five match suspension imposed on him by the QFA Disciplinary Committee.
