1. Gharafa’s new signings hitting the ground running
Al Gharafa survived a late fight back from Al Shahania to win 3-2 in round 21. Integral to their victory was the two goals from new Romanian striker Claudiu Keserü. Many thought that with the departure of star strikers Nene & Lisandro Lopez, the Cheetahs would struggle in the second half of the season.

However they have bought well in the winter transfer window. The former Steaua Bucharest man already has a  understanding with new signings,Costa Rican international Christian Bolaños & Brazilian midfielder Cicerio Santos.

With the help of their new recruits Gharafa are on a three game winning streak, and will take on El Jaish in round 22 full of confidence.

2. Mouhcine Moutouali delivering the goods for Wakrah
Wakrah are currently fighting for their QSL status and faced the daunting challenge of taking on league leaders Lekhwiya. Things didn’t start to well for Wakrah as Lekhwiya took a 2-0 goal lead. However the deficit didn’t faze Moroccan midfielder Mauchine Moutouali who delivered an inspiring second half performance to give the Waves a deserved draw.

The former Raja Casablanca man provided the assist for his team’s first and then scored calmly, slotting away in the last minute with a tough penalty. The tenacious midfielder will need to be in fine form for the remainder of the season, if Wakrah are to avoid relegation to the 2nd division.

3.El Jaish drop points in race for Qatar cup
Round 21 could be one to forget for El Jaish. The soldiers only managed an uninspiring draw against a determined Al Khor side. Many thought that Jaish would brush aside the Knights, who are looking to consolidate a mid-table finish in the QSL.

Things went from bad to worse for last year’s Qatar cup winners when top four rivals Qatar Sports Club & Gharafa managed to grab three points in their round 21 matches against Al Shahania & Al Shamal respectively.

Jaish will now face Gharafa in the round 22 match of the week. Sabri Lamouchi will be looking for a reaction from his squad, to ensure that the soldiers can hold onto their top 4 status.

4. Late drama for Wakrah, Ahli & Qatar SC
Fixtures are now coming thick and fast in the Qatar Stars League. Teams have to constantly shuffle their squad, with the raft of matches taking their physical toll on the sides.
However three teams fought to the very end, to ensure the spoils in round 21. Al Wakrah, perhaps pulled off the biggest surprise of the round snatching a dramatic last minute goal to draw 2-2 against league leaders Lekhwiya.

Whilst Al Ahli saved a point against Al Kharaityat thanks to a 94th minute equalizer from defender Fred Debanka. Qatar SC benefitted the most in the last minute action of round 21, with Korean midfielder Han Kook-Young scoring a superb team goal to give the Kings all three points against Al Shamal.

5. Missed opportunity for Sadd
Al Sadd will be kicking themselves that they were unable to close the points gap against leaders Lekhwiya.  The Wolves knew that a victory against Al Sailiya would only see them a point behind the leaders,  after watching Lekhwiya lose two valuable points to a battling Al Wakrah side.

Things looked promising for Sadd having raced into a 2-0 lead, but they let their two goals cushion slip to a resolute Al Sailiya. Sadd will be looking to get back to winning ways in round 22 when they take on Qatar SC at the Jassim Bin Hamad stadium on Saturday the 4th of March.
