It was a tough season for the minnows from South Doha in their QSL debut. They promptly went back to the Qatar Gas League registering just six points, one of the lowest ever tallies for a side in the QSL. The Flames only grabbed one victory this season, a 2-1 win over fellow strugglers Al Kharitiyat.

Mesaimeer scored the least number of goals in the QSL with 15, along with conceding the most in the league with 62 goals. Proving that the side lacked in all departments for survival in the QSL, one bright spot was striker Erivelto Da Silva Mesaimeer’s top scorer with 8 goals.

A lack of defensive concentration was evident for Rodian Gancin’s side this season and frustratingly they conceded 22 goals in the last fifteen minutes of games, which equated to 35% of the goals they conceded in the QSL this term.



Mesaimeer looked to experience in their maiden QSL campaign and turned to veteran Iranian midfielder Mohammed Noori. Unsurprisingly the former Persepolis midfielder lead the way for his side in the statistics department.

Noori lead the way for his side in passing for the Flames, registering 1046 passes over the course of the season. Whilst even at the age of 33, the former Iranian clocked up an impressive 224km over the course of the season, the most ground covered by any player in the side.

Another player who had an impact for the Flames was Khalid Fareed Feirouz. The pacy wingback registered the most high intensity runs for his side, whilst Feirouz also clocked up the highest work rate of any Mesaimeer player taking in 25.8km of running. Importantly Feirouz also registered four assists for his side from defense, the highest amount for any player in the side.

Despite heading straight back to the Qatar Gas League, Mesaimeer have decided to stick with head coach Rodian Gancin. That stability could be crucial if the Flames are to return to the QSL at the first time of asking.
