Umm Salal Sports Club was founded in 1979 under the name of Al Tadamun Sports Club.
The name was changed to Umm Salal in 2004 due to the club’s location.
Nicknamed the Barzan’s Falcons and The Orange Fortress, Umm Salal made their debut in the Qatar League in the 2006-07 season. They have since been playing regularly in the First Division.
Umm Salal have remarkable achievements to their credit, the most notable being the Amir Cup triumph in 2008 and third place in the AFC Champions League in 2009.

Patrice Carteron

Patrice Carteron is a distinguished coach with a track record of having coached clubs and national teams.
He coached the French club Stade Malherbe Caen in 2009, then the French club Dijon.
In 2012, he was appointed as coach of the Mali national team, and in 2013, he took over coaching of the Congolese team TP Mazembe, leading them to the 2015 CAF Champions League title. He also has had experience with several Egyptian clubs including Wadi Degla, Al Ahly, and Zamalek, in addition to coaching Raja Casablanca in Morocco in 2019.
Carteron took over the coaching of Saudi club Al Taawoun in 2020, followed by Saudi club Al Ettifaq, and then Iranian club Sepahan Isfahan before returning to Umm Salal.
During his playing career, he played for several French and English clubs, including Lyon, Saint-Étienne, and Sunderland.
