Al Arabi coach Contra Cosmin spoke to the media ahead of their 2026-2027 season Doha Bank Stars League Week 5 match against Al Sadd.
“The break provided an ideal opportunity to regroup and work diligently with the available squad over the past two weeks, focusing on enhancing the team’s technical and tactical aspects.
“Facing the league champions and the best team in Qatar over the last decade requires no extra motivation for the players. Everyone is enthusiastic to tackle such high-profile matches. The team aims to maintain the strong form shown at the start of season while focusing on better converting chances in front of goal into actual goals.
“I am familiar with Al Sadd and their coach. They are noted for high level of organization, aggressive pressing and having players capable of making a decisive impact. But we have a strong squad and a competitive mindset capable of defeating any opponent. The team would be in peak psychological condition to secure a positive result,” said Contra.
Al Arabi goalkeeper Jassim Al Hail said, “The coaching staff and players made excellent use of the break to rectify errors. Matches played during this period helped boost physical readiness and maintain competitive rhythm, despite the long break from official fixtures.
“Matches against Al Sadd are always characterized by intense rivalry and excitement, with recent encounters between the two sides delivering high-quality, entertaining performances. The players fully grasp the magnitude of responsibility and require no motivational speeches to approach these major matches.”
