Al Sailiya coach Sami Trabelsi has revealed that changes were necessary at Al Sailiya, following a slow start to the season. The Peregrines picked up only their fifth win over the season with a narrow 1-0 win over Umm Salal on Friday evening.

New signing Temurkhuja Abdukholiqov scored from the penalty spot to give Sailiya the win, which saw them pull out of the QSL relegation zone in the process.  In a exclusive interview with QSL online, the Tunisian coach admitted that the new signings could make the difference maker in the relegation fight. “The new players performed well against Umm Salal, I wish them the best in the coming weeks as they settle in the QSL.”

Al Sailiya has been busy in the transfer window thus far picking up four players. Abdukholiqov is joined by compatriot Sanjar Shaakhmedov, whilst Romanian Valentin Lazăr has been signed on loan from Dinamo București. In terms of local players, Qatari attacker Jaralla Al-Marri has also been signed.

Trabelsi ended the brief interview thanking the previous players who represented Al Sailiya. “I want to thank the players who have just left the club and the hard work they put in.”
