DOHA : The Al Rayyan players won a three-day rest from coach Jorge Fossati following their successful training camp in Spain, the club announced on Sunday.

The pre-season training camp in Spain for the Qatar Stars League (QSL) champions kicked off on July 28 and ended on August 20.

The club said Al Rayyan players will resume training next Wednesday in what will be the final stage training ahead of the new season.

The 2016-17 QSL season starts on September 15.

Al Rayyan's first assignment of the new season will be the Sheikh Jassim Cup match against Lekhwiya on September 12.

Al Rayyan played a number of friendlies during their trip to Spain and got mixed results.

The backroom staff told the club website that the club players showed 'good fitness levels' during the training camp.

Al Rayyan, who topped the QSL standings last year, will face Al Shahaniya on September 17 in their opening clash of the new season.
