Al Arabi Sports Club’s Head of Football Salah Al Mulla has told the club’s fans that whilst he sees this week’s upcoming Round 14 QSL match versus Al Sailiya as a tough challenge, he has full faith in his team’s ability to repeat the 1-0 victory they celebrated over Al Sailiyah back in September when they beat them in Round 1 of the 2016/17 QSL season.

Al Mulla spoke exclusively to QSL.com and said: “We played Al Sailiya in Round 1 of this current season and thanks to Allah we came away with all three points after securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory, and that was without the strong foreign players we now have in our squad. We played well against Umm Salal during our last fixture, securing all three points, and hope to maintain that form in this week’s coming fixture. I have the utmost confidence that this team will continue winning.”

Al Arabi are currently sitting 6th in the league with 16 points from five wins, one draw and seven defeats. They are six points adrift from 5th place Al Rayyan and seven points clear of the top four and Al Gharafa who sit in 4th place.

Al Mulla also added: “We didn’t have the best start to the season so it’s now imperative that the team looks at every game as a potential three points and as a crucial fixture for our 2016/17 campaign. We’re determined to take another three points from Al Sailiya and close the gap on the top four.”

Al Mulla also pointed out that the club has plenty of players with potential but that some of them are yet to find their feet at the club and within the QSL league and the team haven’t quite been able to gel properly and play as a strong unit. He reflected: “We’ve got a strong squad with lots of promising players, but the team are yet to find their rhythm with one another which shows when you look at our results, with the strength of the team differing from week to week. We’re seeing improvements in the squad every day though and we’re all expecting a strong finish to the season.”

On his ambition for the current season, he concluded: “We need to look at each game as a final if we’re to challenge for the top four in this QSL season. We’re going to do everything in our power to try and close the seven point gap on Al Gharafa and make sure that on the final day of the season we’re sat as high up the table as possible.”
