Al Ahli head into their QSL match of the week encounter against Al Rayyan on a high after registering three straight wins in the league. Head coach Yusef Adam spoke to the local media ahead of their Friday evening match at Ahli stadium.
Adam opened up the press conference expressing his excitement at the match against the reigning QSL champions.“It’s a game with two form sides, Al Rayyan are only looking for victory in this match. Our target is to be away from the relegation zone. The run of wins has made our situation comfortable right now, but we will be targeting a win to continue this good moment that we are in”
“Our target this season is thirty points in order to be away from relegation. We are playing Al Rayyan at home and that will be an advantage for us” added the Qatari coach when asked if he had a points target in mind for the remainder of the 2016/2017 season.
The Brigadiers boss ended the press conference noting that confidence will be key if his side are to come away with the victory. “We have improved in confidence and that has been shown in training and our recent matches. As a coach, this is an ideal position to be in. We now have to focus on all the positives and look to use this to exploit the weaknesses of Al Rayyan in our next match.”
Whilst for Al Rayyan, they are on a impressive five game winning streak in the league, and will be looking to add another win to further cement their place standings in the league. Head coach Michael Laudrup spoke to the media ahead of the game.
Laudrup opened up his press conference noting that his opponents will be full of confidence heading into the game.“Al Ahli is a good team, they have had problems this season but they have won three games in the row and they will be playing with us with plenty of confidence.”
The Danish coach also admitted that he’s not sure that striker, who had been linked with a return to spain will be available for the game on Friday. “I don’t know at the moment if Garcia will play against Al Ahli. Espanyol is his home club and this was a special opportunity for him to return. The club have been clear that he will have to stay for this important second half of the season. So Sergio has accepted this and we will now work with him till the end of the season. Sergio will come back into the team when I feel that he is mentally ready to play for Al Rayyan.”
“Our priority right now is a top four finish. We have to try game by game we have to win we have won seven of our last eight games. Right now Lekhwiya and Al Sadd are favourites for the league. Although in January we have won all five games, that is all we can do” noted the Danish coach when asked about his sides chances of retaining the QSL falcon shield.
