Al Sailiya head into their match against relegation threatened Al Khor in good spirits, following a 1-0 win over Al Arabi last time out. Tunisian head coach Sami Trabelsi spoke to the local media ahead of the Monday evening game.
Opening up the press conference Trabelsi noted that the side from the north of Qatar have lost their way recently. “I think Al Khor have many good players, but they have lost confidence recently. In Madson they have a fantastic player however he has not been at his best recently.”
“They are still a good side, recently they have drawn in games and put in some impressive performances, they will be targeting three points against us. We must be ready for this side who can be dangerous when they play at their best” added the Tunisian coach.
The Peregrines opened up 2017 with a narrow 1-0 win over Al Arabi, and Trabelsi noted that his team are looking to continue that winning feeling against Al Khor. “We started the new year well, with a important win, we hope to win the next game. January is important for us, a good run of results will give us confidence. We don’t have the best squad at the moment, however my team has plenty of heart and we know that we can beat any team in Qatar on our day.”
Trabelsi ended the press conference with a word on potential January signings. “We will not change for the sake of it, we will only bring in a player who will improve the quality of the side. We might not even bring a new player in during January.”
Whilst Al Khor head into the tie off the back of a 2-1 defeat to Umm Salal. The Knights are currently hovering above the relegation zone with twelve points in fourteen QSL games. French coach Jean Fernandez shared his thoughts with the local media ahead of the game.
Opening up the press conference Fernandez clearly stated his sides objectives from the game. “We will play a tough game against a strong organised team. They have plenty of experience and will be confident. Our target is to get three points from this game.”
“We are disappointed with the last result against Umm Salal, I believe that we played well and we have prepared well for the upcoming game against Al Sailiya. It will be tough but we have quality to trouble Al Sailiya” noted the French coach at the pre match press conference on Sunday morning.
Fernandez ended the press conference calling for his side to react against Al Sailiya. “Our situation is difficult in the table, right now we need to get points and we need more wins. We need a reaction against Al Sailiya, and i am confident we can get that to push up the table.”
