Round 11 of the Qatar Stars League witnessed two big comebacks and some high score lines, the offensive players came good in round 11 with some classy goals. However for many teams defense was simply an afterthought. In the 7 fixtures played, there were 6 wins and only one match ended in a draw. Also this round witnessed a high number of goals; 29 goals from 7, the highest score line belonged to Qatar Sports Club as they beat Al Wakrah 7-0. The other big result of the weekend was for Lekhwiya who beat Shahania 5-0 but this was no surprise.

Al-Sadd continued to progress steadily after beating Al-Gharafa by three goals to two in an epic game, during which Al-Gharafa took the lead 2-0, before Al-Sadd came back and won the game in the second half. This is Al-Sadd’s 9th win without any defeats and this Al-Sadd’s 3rd consecutive win.

Last season’s champs - Lekhwiya got back on track after two draws in the previous rounds (Umm Salal & Al Arabi), they beat Al-Shahania by five goals to nil.

This round also held the return of El Jaish to the 3rd spot in the QSL after defeating Al Shamal by two goals to one. This is El Jaish’s second win in the last five games. Al Ahli also returned to victory after defeating Al-Arabi in another surprising match. Al Arabi was leading 2-0 during the first half, but Machala’s boys came back strong during the second half to win the match by four goals to two. Al Wakrah joined the bottom two with 8 defeats also, after losing to Qatar Sports Club by a staggering seven goals to nil.

Not to forget Al Kharaitiyat who drew against Al Khor and Al Sailiya who lost to Umm Salal. The boys in orange are now in 7th spot and are trying to catch up to Al Ahli and Qatar Sports Club who are just above them in the standings.
