Round 17 of the QSL will come to a close with three games which have significance at both ends of the table.

The first game of the day will see top of the table Lekhwiya entertain relegation threatened Al Wakrah. Djamel Belmadi’s side has stormed to the summit of the QSL standings in the last few rounds and has now opened up a five point gap over their nearest rivals. The four time QSL champions will be without influential midfielder Luis Martin for the match; after he was sent off in the 2-1 victory over Al Sadd last time out. As for Al Wakrah, they are in desperate need of a positive result in order to pull off an escape act from the relegation zone.

Later on in the day will be the QSL match of the week. When third placed El Jaish will take on fourth placed Al Rayyan. Jaish come into the tie on shaky league form after registering just one victory in their last five QSL games. Sabri Lamouchi’s side has relinquished top spot in the league thanks to draws with the likes of Al Sadd, Al Wakrah and Al Khor in recent weeks.

As for Al Rayyan, they have been quietly finding their rhythm under Michael Laudrup in recent weeks. They head into the Jaish game off the back of a three game winning streak in the league which has seen them consolidate fourth place. Last time out, Rayyan put in an impressive performance to register a 4-0 win over Al Sailiya.

The final game of the day will see bottom of the table Muaither face off against second placed Al Sadd at Al Gharafa stadium. Phillipe Birol’s stallions have drawn their last two QSL games in recent weeks giving them a chance of beating the drop providing they start to string together a winning run. They will be taking on a Al Sadd side who will be targeting a reaction since their 2-1 defeat to table topping rivals Lekhwiya last time out.
