
The Round 19 Spotlight match will see two sides struggling for form in when mid-table team Umm Salal, take on an Al Kharaitiyat side who are struggling to get out of the relegation zone. Both teams have one win between them in their last five QSL matches, and both will be looking to turn their fortunes around with three points heading to the final nine games of the season.
Umm Salal’s form has been patchy since the start of the season, which reflects on their seventh placed position in the QSL standings. The home team is coming into the match off the back of a 1-1 draw with top four chasing El Jaish. Orange Fortress coach Mahmoud Jaber will be looking to repeat their last match performance, against Al Kharaitiyat.
Goal scorer against El Jaish, Hilal Mohammed was one of the star players in the last round.
The youngster has enjoyed a good debut season with Umm Salal and will be looking to strike up a partnership with new playmaker Faouzi Aaish who has joined the team on a six month deal.
Al Kharaitiyat is coming into the match from a narrow 1-0 loss to the champions Al Rayyan. The away team is currently in 11th in the league and a win for the Thunders will close the gap with multiple teams just outside of the relegation zone.
Al Kharaitiyat will play Umm Salal without their left back Saud Nasser due to the 4th yellow card he received against Al Rayyan. However, winger Mahmoud Saad is set to return after being suspended for one match. Al Kharaitiyat midfielder Anwar Diba has been crucial to Kharaitiyat’s upturn in fortunes at the start of the year, and the Al Kharaitiyat number ten will be looking to make a decisive contribution against Umm Salal.
