Undefeated streaks on the line when Al Ahli takes on Al Rayyan

In-form Al Ahli takes on third placed Al Rayyan in the QSL match of the week for round 19 on Friday evening at Al Ahli stadium. Both sides are currently enjoying impressive winning streaks in the league and will be aiming to continue their respective streaks.

Al Ahli come into the game after three straight wins in the QSL, that has seen them pull away from the relegation zone and into sixth place in the standings. Crucially Yusef Adam’s side is now eight points away from the drop zone. Last time out Al Ahli defeated Al Khor 1-0 with a goal from veteran midfielder Younis Ali stepping up for the Brigadiers.

Part of the upturn in fortunes for Al Ahli’s has been the clubs eagerness to do business in the Janaury transfer window to strengthen their side, particularly in attack. Both Tunisian striker Yassine Chikhaoui and local striker Ali Ferydoon have been recruited on loan from Al Gharafa and Al Shamal respectively and the duo could be crucial to the Ahli cause if they are to cause an upset against the reigning QSL champions.

As for Al Rayyan they are on a five game winning streak in the league, and have pushed themselves into third place in the QSL standings. Last time out they needed a solitary strike from young midfielder Abdulmajeed Enad to defeat struggling Al Kharaitiyat 1-0.

 Central to Michael Laudrup’s success has been built on a solid defense with the Lions only one goal in their last five games.  Uruguayan defender Gonzalo Viera has been ever present for Al Rayyan this season, and his contribution to the team has significantly upturned the fortunes of the reigning QSL champions who made a slow start to the season.
