Friday’s QSL action will see two matches take place, with all four sides involved eager to pick up points to boost their standing in the league.
The first match of the day will see title chasing Lekhwiya take on Al Khor in the 16:35 KO at Lekhwiya stadium. The Red Knights are set to welcome back Yusef Msakni and Yusef El Arabi back from AFCON duty, whilst influential striker Almoez Ali will also return to the side after domestic suspension. Despite the absence of key players in the last month Djamel Belmadi has continued winning, and will be aiming for another three points against an Al Khor side that has frustrated Lekhwiya down the years.
Whilst for Al Khor, they will be looking to frustrate the four times QSL champions and look for a repeat of their 2-2 draw back in November. Jean Fernandez will be looking for a reaction from his side, which fell to a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Al Ahli last time out. The French tactician will be counting on diminutive attacker Madson to cause Lekhwiya trouble.
The second match of the day will see Al Ahli take on Al Rayyan in the QSL match of the week. Yusef Adam’s side is currently on a three game winning streak in the league, and will be looking to add the scalp of the QSL champions during this winning run. The Brigadiers will be hoping that striker Ali Ferydoon will find the back of the net again, after scoring in his first two games with his new club.
As for Al Rayyan they are on a five game winning streak that has seen last season’s QSL champions push up into third place in the standings. Michael Laudrup’s side are set to welcome back talismanic captain Rodrigo Tabata for the game after the Qatar international missed out on his sides 1-0 win over Al Kharaitiyat last time out.
