Qatar SC coach Youssef Safri spoke to the media ahead of their 2024-2025 season Ooredoo Stars League Week 5 match against Al Gharafa.
“We look forward to appearing well in the upcoming match and achieving a good result, especially since the result of the last match was not satisfactory for us and does not reflect the performance or efforts made by the team. We deserved a draw at the very least as we played the match with great focus and created many opportunities, but unfortunately we were not successful in exploiting them. In return, we conceded a goal from only four opportunities throughout the 90 minutes. In general, the team made a great effort in the last match and appeared in an advanced way and we hope that we will be successful in the upcoming match.
“Al Gharafa prepared appropriately during the past period and we know that the upcoming match against Al Gharafa will be difficult. But we are ambitious about victory, especially after a not-so-good phase of late.
“Our goal is to achieve a positive result and we must focus on our goals in order to improve our position in the standings and reach the position that Qatar SC deserve in the league championship.
“Everyone is ready for the match and there is a great desire from all players to do their best to achieve the desired result in view of the determination, persistence and focus of everyone.
“We have seen the impact of the support provided by our fans to the team last season, pushing us towards reaching the Amir Cup final and we need this great support from the fans in our upcoming matches in order to achieve the good results that we all aspire to,” said Safri.
Qatar SC player Issa Ahmed said, “We are ready for the match with the ambition to win and achieve a positive result and we know that the match will not be easy, but we consider that every match we play in the league is of great importance and we must do our best in it in order to achieve the desired result.
“The chances are equal between the two teams, but we are looking forward to collect the three points in order to advance in the league table. We are expecting our fans’ support in the upcoming match against Al Gharafa in particular and in all matches in general.”
