Al Duhail will take on the challenge of Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr in the third round (Group E) of the 2023-2024 AFC Champions League at the Al Awwal Park Stadium in Riyadh on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. The kick-off is at 9pm.
The group’s other teams are FC Istiklol of Tajikistan and Persepolis of Iran.
Al Nassr are currently leading the group with six points, while Persepolis are second with three points. Al Duhail are third with one point and FC Istiklol last, also with one point.
Al Duhail played a goalless draw against FC Istiklol in their opening group match before suffering a 0-1 reversal against Persepolis and will aim for a positive result against Al Nassr.
Irrespective of their group standings, both Al Duhail and Al Nassr will battle hard in the continental challenge, given their stature as domestic champions and team strengths.
Al Duhail will be under for the first time by their newly-appointed French coach Christophe Galtier, who succeeded Argentinian Hernan Crespo.
Galtier will look for his side to play in a balanced game, especially given the strength of the opponents with the presence of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, Ivorian Sadio Mane and others.
Al Duhail would be banking on the experience of Qatar international Almoez Ali, Kenyan spearhead Michael Olunga, Brazilian star Philippe Coutinho and others to rise to the occasion in the riveting contest.
